Me with my Norwegian Fjord, "Valley"

BACKGROUND:

My parents were both fine craftspeople and the owners of several galleries in Florida where I grew up. Upon moving to Maine in my 20's, I developed an interest in fused glass. I also raised and trained dogs, was a wildlife rehabber, and a vet tech. My glass career lasted over 30 years where my work was featured in numerous publications, galleries, and museums. Upon retiring to Oregon in 2002,  I returned to my love of drawing and painting. As a self taught artist who specializes in animal imagery, my chosen mediums are acrylics, which I use on fine art gourds that are carved and painted, and soft pastels for portraits.

I happily share my life with my three dogs, Feather, Raven, and Sparrow, and my two horses, Hope and Valentina.  We live in the peaceful Willamette Valley of Oregon on a couple of acres near Junction City.

Please visit my website www.averyandersongourdart.com to see some of the creations I have done with gourds.
